The only bad thing about not hosting Christmas dinner is the lack of leftovers. I never think to take any with me from my Mom’s because I always leave there so stuffed that I don’t think I’ll ever eat another meal. But as I sit here two days later surrounded by boxes and piles of toys that need to find homes in my kids’ closets, I could sure go for some Overnight Caramel French Toast or Cornbread Dressing

Really, I’d eat just about anything right now to keep me from having to clean up. Part of me is itching to take the tree down and reclaim my living room, but the other part of me isn’t ready to go back to reality.

I got a little jolt back into reality when I went to the grocery store yesterday. We were out of paper towels, diapers, laundry detergent, dish detergent, and toilet paper… you know, all of those one off items that you don’t buy every trip but easily add $20 to your bill when you do.  I spent $100 on 5 items, and we couldn’t eat a single one of them. Merrrrry Christmas haha.

Needing to console myself after my shopping trip, I came home to make these cream cheese danishes. I’ve been craving some of my Breakfast Cheesecake, but I wanted to try and find a way to make a smaller batch. These small batch cream cheese danishes are soft, flaky, easy to eat with one hand, and so simple to make. Perfect with coffee or a dollop of fruit preserve on top.

How to Make Crescent Roll Cheese Danish

  1. Make the cream cheese filling for the danish.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough onto an ungreased baking sheet and separate into four squares.
  3. Spread the cream cheese mixture onto each square.
  4. Gently fold in each of the corners of the dough.
  5. Bake until the edges are lightly golden brown.

Can I Double This Cheese Danish Recipe?

Yes, you can double this crescent roll cream cheese danish recipe. Double all the ingredients EXCEPT the egg yolk. You can get by with just one egg yolk even if doubling the recipe.

Tips for Making Cream Cheese Danish

Be generous with the filling, there will still be a little leftover once you’re done adding it to the crescent rolls.

To switch up this recipe a bit, try adding a dollop of fruit preserves to the center.

Make sure to securely fold up the edges of the crescent rolls as they have a tendency to spread.

We love all things cream cheese! Made these for breakfast today, delicious! We’ll be making them again, but probably with a tad less sugar.

Just took them out of the oven. Didn’t fold my edges in enough, they do spread out. No worries still taste amazing. Did add a drop of jam in the middle. These are definitely be added into the breakfast rotation.

Emily, when you go to those dinners at your mom’s, take some refrigerator dishes with you for leftovers. You won’t likely go home without them.

I made these this morning for Palm Sunday brunch using my homemade gluten free crescent dough. They were ugly because I don’t roll out dough well, but yummy. (Shhhh…don’t tell anyone about the two leftover in the fridge. I’m hoping to have them for breakfast in the morning.)

Thanks so much for this simple, delicious recipe! My daughter and I included it in our homemade brunch a couple of weeks ago and I can hardly wait to make it again. One addition we made: a spoonful of Raspberry-Jalapeno jam in the center before baking. OMGosh! I then cut them in half for smaller portions and stored the leftovers in the fridge… they held up well for a couple of days.
And now, I’m off to search your site for more awesomeness 🙂
