Triple Chocolate Rice Krispie Treats

Triple Chocolate Cocoa Krispies Treats are everything you want them to be — ooey-gooey, chocolatey, crunchy deliciousness!

These chocolate rice krispie treats have all the ooey-gooey nostalgia of the classic version with a yummy twist.  Use cocoa krispies, chocolate chips, and M&M’s candies to amp up the flavor in these homemade rice krispie treats.

Ingredients for Cocoa Krispies Treats 

To make these triple chocolate rice krispies treats, all you’ll need is: 

  • Cocoa Krispies cereal
  • Marshmallows
  • Butter
  • Chocolate chips 
  • M&M’s

How to Make Cocoa Krispies Treats 

  1. Melt the marshmallows and butter in a large nonstick pan.
  2. Mix the cereal, chocolate chips, and M&M’s together in a large nonstick bowl.
  3. Pour the melted marshmallow mixture over the cereal mixture, and mix well.
  4. Pour immediately into a pan lined with parchment paper.

How Long Do Homemade Rice Krispies Treats Last? 

These cocoa rice krispies treats are best enjoyed the day they’re made, but they’ll last two to three days at room temperature if stored in an airtight container. 

Can You Freeze Rice Krispies Treats? 

Yes! Lay them flat on a parchment paper-lined baking tray and freeze until hard. Then, transfer them to an airtight container and freeze for up to 6 weeks. To thaw, set on your counter for 15 to 20 minutes.

Tips for Making Cocoa Rice Krispies Treats 

  • Keep in mind that the size of the pan determines the thickness of your homemade rice krispies treat.
  • For holiday-themed treats, drizzle colored candy melts on top of the cocoa krispies treats! 
  • You can also use this recipe as a base for classic rice krispies treats or other flavored cereal treats.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups Cocoa Krispies cereal
  • 1 (10) oz pkg marshmallows
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup M&M's

Instructions

  • Melt the marshmallows and butter in a large nonstick pan over low heat.
  • Mix the cereal, chocolate chips, and chocolate candies together in a large nonstick bowl (or a bowl coated with cooking spray).
  • Pour the melted marshmallow mixture over the cereal mixture, and mix well.
  • Pour immediately into a pan lined with parchment paper.

Notes

Keep in mind the size of the pan determines the thickness of your rice krispie treat.
Top with drizzled red candy melt and sprinkles for a fun Valentine’s Day treat!
