Need a quick and easy, crowd pleasing appetizer to serve at your New Year’s Eve party tomorrow night?  This recipe for the Best Ever Cheese Ball makes an appearance at all of my party gatherings and sometimes it’s been known to show up on a random Tuesday.  Like for lunch.  When I’m by myself.  And don’t have to share.  No judgement.

The great thing about cheese ball recipes is that they are almost foolproof.  Just mix together cream cheese with your favorite grated cheese and spices.  You can add in whatever cheese you have on hand (like monterey jack, colby, sharp cheddar, etc) with spices like garlic, cumin, and cayenne pepper.  You can blend it completely or leave some texture, whatever you prefer.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 8 oz sharp cheddar grated
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp season salt
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 2-4 tbsp buffalo wing sauce* optional

Instructions

  • Beat the cream cheese and shredded cheese together until smooth.
  • Add in spices, and optional wing sauce, beat until well combined.

Notes

I like to dust mine with cayenne for a little added bite. Keep in mind that the more you mix the cheese ball, especially in a stand mixer, the softer it will become. I usually serve mine immediately so this is not an issue, but you can always wrap and put in the refrigerator until ready.
