Ingredients
For the cupcakes:

Guinness stout

butter
unsalted, at room temperature

sour cream

For the Vanilla Buttercream Frosting:
2/3
cup
butter
unsalted, softened

powdered sugar

milk

vanilla
Instructions
For the cupcakes:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line 24 cupcake cups with liners.
Bring the Guinness and butter to a simmer in a saucepan over medium heat.
Add the cocoa powder and continuously whisk until the mixture is smooth. After the mixture is smooth, allow to cool slightly.
Combine the flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
In a stand mixer, beat the eggs and sour cream on medium speed until combined.
Add the Guinness-chocolate mixture to the egg mixture and beat until just combined.
Add the flour mixture and beat briefly on low.
Divide the batter among the cupcake liners and bake about 17 minutes.
For the Frosting:
Beat the butter and powdered sugar until well combined.
Add the vanilla, and slowly add the milk 1 tablespoon at a time until the mixture reaches a fluffy, smooth texture.
Pipe frosting onto each cupcake.
Notes
You can substitute Guinness for the milk in the frosting, if desired.
