Coffee and bacon are two of my favorite food groups and I would start every day with both if I could. I especially love a dark roast coffee (with a little sugar and splash of cream) and thick cut bacon. I decided to combine my two favorite flavors and this sweet and savory Coffee Candied Bacon was the delicious result.

Don’t be afraid of using fresh coffee grounds in this recipe. The end result will not be bitter or gritty. The brown sugar creates a wonderful molasses candied effect that is only intensified by the flavors in the coffee. Either dark brown or light brown sugar work in this case.
You do want to watch the bacon carefully and not let the sugar burn. Make sure you do a thorough job lining your baking sheet with parchment paper before baking for easy cleanup. I like my bacon extra crispy, so I tend to leave mine in for a few extra minutes. I may or may not have smoked up the house a few times after walking away and forgetting it was in there. Ooops!

Coffee Candied Bacon
- 1 lb Signature Farms Bacon Thick Cut Hickory Smoked
- 1/2 cup Signature Kitchens brown sugar packed
- 2 tbsp Signature SELECT coffee brewed
- 1 tbsp Signature SELECT coffee ground
- Preheat oven to 375°. Line a rimmed baking pan with parchment or waxed paper.
- Lay bacon strips on backing pan, overlapping slightly if needed.
- Sprinkle top of bacon strips evenly with ground coffee.
- In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and brewed coffee, stirring just to make to a paste.
- Brush the bacon strips with the sugar coffee mixture.
- Bake 15-20 minutes, or until crispy.
