I know the turkey is supposed to be the star of the show on Thursday, but as far as I’m concerned it’s not Thanksgiving without pie. That moment when everyone pushes away from the table completely stuffed, but Mom brings out the pie and whipped cream and not a single person there can possibly say no. We usually keep it simple with only pecan or pumpkin, but occasionally add in a chocolate pie just to be obnoxiously over-the-top.
This year my husband and I have decided to host drinks and dessert at our house Thanksgiving night. I’m not ready to (and joke that I might never) cook a whole turkey and all the trimmings, but I can do pie and wine! We’ve decided that instead of spending the day driving from house to house, we are going to eat lunch with family and then anyone and everyone are invited to come see US that evening. It feels like we spend more time in the car driving to see family than we actually get to spend with them!

I love the idea of having Thanksgiving dessert at your house!! I might seriously steal it! Because, although we are cooking dinner (I'm a crazy person, I know), I want other people to be able to come and visit. Brilliant!
