Texas Chili Cheese Fries- perfect for game dayThere are a few things (ok maybe a lot of things) us Texans take seriously.  Friday night football, the State flag, sweet tea, and chili are just some of them.  Growing up, it wasn’t officially Fall until my mom made a huge pot of chili on the first cool weather day.  We would eat it by the bowl full, usually with rice or corn bread.  We like it spicy, the hotter the better, and NEVER, under any circumstances, should chili contain beans.

Texas Chili Cheese Fries- perfect for game dayOne of my favorite ways to eat chili is by making chili cheese fries.  It’s the perfect comfort food, game day snack, or side dish on a cool weather day.  It’s a crowd-pleaser, and super easy to make.  Just bake up some frozen curly fries as directed on the package, top with chili for the last 8-10 minutes of baking, and sprinkle with cheese for the last 5 mins.  Garnish with sour cream, chives, bacon, or serve with a side of ranch!

Wolf Brand Chili is a staple for us, but my favorite way to serve it is on butterflied grilled chicken breast, first grilled (because that’s quick and easy) then it is popped into the oven in a flat casserole dish, Wolf Brand Chili it generously spooned on top, and finally lots and lots of shredded cheddar cheese. Served all hot and bubbly.

We always make a double (sometimes triple!) batch of chili so we can enjoy it all week! Gotta have crackers, Fritos, plenty of shredded cheese, hot sauce and sour cream on hand so all the kids are happy :)

We like chili on a grilled hot dog with cheese and diced onions (sometimes diced jalapenos too). You can see why there must be no beans in it!
